This Ode to St. Hubert necklace was inspired by a moment in the artist’s life where she saw a stag among the vineyards in California’s wine country, and her stag siting reminded her of the story of St. Hubert. As the legend goes, way back in 700 A.D., Hubert was hunting when encountered a stag with a cross in its horns, and he fell to his knees and spared its life. Hubert’s experience ultimately turned him toward a life serving God, and he was later sainted and is known as the Patron Saint of Hunters.
The focal pendant is a coppery brass St. Hubert stag that has been mounted to a translucent dendritic opal stone that seems to depict a plateau with trees and a forest in the far distance. The chain is comprised of 14 faceted dew drop-shaped green amethyst gemstones, patinated bronze metal olive leaf connectors, and green moss opal gemstone beads.
